Read what Liz Moore, Manager of West Somerset Advice Bureau says about TurnKey I.T Solutions
West Somerset Advice Bureau (WSAB) is a registered charity working in a similar way to that of a CAB, in the area of West Somerset. Based in the seaside town of Minehead we provide advice on a range of issues as diverse as welfare benefits, debt management, employment, housing, consumer problems and relationship breakdown.
West Somerset is a very rural area including a part of Exmoor, stretching as far south as Dulverton, including the coastal settlements of Porlock, Minehead, Williton, and Watchet and on towards Bridgwater. The advice team is made up in the main of trained volunteer advisers and other staff, supplement by paid staff including specialists in debt management and welfare benefits.
Founded some 30 years ago the bureau had relied mainly on second hand equipment and our IT systems were all stand alone computers of varying ages and ability.Monthly updating of programmes and repairs was taking increasing amounts of time and energy and the system was no longer fit for our needs…
In order to provide the tools required to give the best possible advice and to meet the needs of our various funders we asked TurnKey I.T Solutions to design for us a system from scratch that was suited to our needs, that was affordable and which had the support service we knew, we would need and could not provide in house.
Initial quotes from TurnKey I.T Solutions were discussed by our Trustee Board before acceptance. One Trustee, herself retired from the IT world provoked the query ‘how can they afford to do it for the price?’
Well they proved they can…
Installed and running for 6 months now, we are delighted with the new system, which allows for remote working as necessary and ensures that the staff team is up to date with changes in legislation and has access to the internet to provide a seamless service for clients.
Our Funders are also delighted with the information that we can now provide centrally about our client work and our volunteers are increasingly confident in using the system, knowing that help is only a call away if they have any difficulties.
